Looking for some new music? Here are three artists to watch in 2019, from all around the globe, who I believe will continue to gain more fans and exposure in the coming year. Each of these tracks are on heavy rotation in my own playlists–I hope that you enjoy them too!
Artist: J.S. Ondara
Track: American Dream
Twitter: @jsondara
Singer-songwriter J.S. Ondara was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, and moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota to pursue a career in music, partly due to his adoration of native Bob Dylan. You can easily hear the influence in this powerful track “American Dream,” which also showcases his intimate singing style. His has a new album out in February with a US tour to follow.
Artist: Foxwarren
Track: Everything Apart
Twitter: @foxwarrenmusic
Foxwarren are a scruffy four-piece from Saskatchewan, Canada, who credit influences as diverse as Pedro The Lion, The Band and Paul Simon, but that only scratches the surface. Their first single “Everything Apart” from their upcoming debut album, incorporates a driving, krautrock rhythm backdrop that morphs into numerous shapes throughout its 4 minutes. It’s one of my favorite singles of the moment.
Artist: Masego
Track: Prone
Twitter: @UncleSego
Masego was born, Micah Davis, in Jamaica, but decided on the name Masego after researching his South African roots on a senior project in school, the name meaning = blessing in Setswana. His sound has been described as “Trap/House/Jazz” and within a short period of time he has managed to amass 20 million streams of his debut in Europe alone and is slated to perform at the iii Points Alternative Music Festival in Miami in 2019.
There are several artists, such as Neil Young and Todd Rundgren, whose catalog on Touch Tunes is limited to only a few albums, mostly older ones, but have many more newer albums that have been released. It would be great if we can listen to the newer music of these artists, in particular, Todd Rundgren, who has many, many albums that have been released all the up to this past year. Please update his and other artists catalogs so that we may enjoy and share their newer music.
Thanks for sharing! We’ve passed this info on over to our sister company TouchTunes–hopefully they’ll be able to help!
