Whether we like it or not, the days leading up to Valentine’s Day always seems to conjure up memories of love lost and found, candy hearts, and grade school Valentine cards. Then there’s all those silly love songs that either assuage or amplify our romantic moments–a first date (or heartbreak), your wedding day, the first time you said those three little words. Hearts are swelling as we get swept up in some of our team’s favorite love songs:
Michelle G., Video Operations :: Elton John (and more recently Elle Goulding) – “Your Song”
I get all misty-eyed just singing the chorus. There is no sweeter lyric ever written than “How wonderful life is/while you’re in the world”.
Brian J., Local Sales :: Alphaville – “Forever Young”
Takes me back to every 8th grade dance…
John W., Media Services :: John Martyn – “Couldn’t Love You More”
A song that is a simple message of love and what one would do to prove that love…”I would lay all night in the rain for you.” What else can you say after that?
Michelle U., Executive Assistant :: Death Cab for Cutie – “I Will Follow You Into the Dark”
While the lyrics are kind of dark, it’s also incredibly touching. Loving someone so much, not even death can separate you.
Evan L., International Sales :: David Bazan – “Won’t Let You Go”
Love and travel are twin sisters raised apart and too often their energies are dueling against one another. Whether the aircraft’s wheels are touching down in Seoul or Seattle, I often find this contemplative and understated ode to love and distance will instantaneously close the expanse and transport me back home. Essential for any lovelorn traveler!
Adam H., Marketing :: Bill Withers – “Lean On Me”
If everyone did what this song is saying, the world would be a better place.
Scott D., Messaging :: Spiral Staircase – “More Today Than Yesterday”
I said the lyrics to this song as part of my wedding vows; “I love you more today than yesterday/but not as much as tomorrow.”
Yuanne C., International Sales :: Ben Folds – “The Luckiest”
Whenever I hear this song, I think of how the sweetest and most romantic thing is to simply grow old together. Just like that couple from the first 10 minutes of Pixar’s UP.
