It’s hard not to know about the ongoing Donald Trump / Rosie O’Donnell feud – but their musical interests brought them to the same crowd just last week. In the same company you could find Edie Falco, Serena Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, Tony Kushner and Ed Norton, along with screaming, head-banging, punk -rockers. Wait, what? Yes, you heard right. Donald was rocking out to Green Day. Don’t worry though, he was sure to keep it classy; it was on Broadway. We’re talking about the April 20th premier of American Idiot, the Green Day musical, that’s now playing at Broadway’s St. James Theatre in New York.
The rock opera is a hit already, receiving rave reviews from the New York Times, Washington Post and Rolling Stone, among others. According to reviews, the musical, which features music from the 2004 Green Day album, tells the story of young Americans encountering love, alienation, war, unprotected sex, and drug use on their search for a meaning in life.
